Hello, I am currently looking for some tuxedo shoes that are not patent leather. I don't have anything or anybrand in mind except for the shoes below.

Those are Johnston and Murphys. Please give me your opinion on wearing them with a tux, and also please give me other shoes that are suitable for tux wear like I stated before. Thanks for you help, John

If you don't want patent leather, get a plaintoe balmoral, not a captoe, and polish them up.

I'm talking about something like the Alden 935.

You could wear a velvet slipper.

The Aintree is not a wholecut, and as a blucher is pretty casual for a tux. Something in the style of the Alden that NoVaGuy posted is closer.

I can't say I'm a big patent fan. It's also a nice way to distance yourself from the rental crowd, going in the other direction.

That bow is hideous! Not a big fan of the last shape either. Just curious, who makes them?
