Maybe not, but his starting this thread speaks volumes of his unwillingness to research.

    stuff

    1. Browse the what are you wearing now/today/whatever threads. Save pictures you like. Emulate them later.
    2. Figure out your own style, nobody can tell you this. Just because a dude here looks good in all black with a white cock bib and moon boots doesn't mean you will either.
    3. Learn to search, any of your questions can be answered by using it. You won't have to make a thread, angering the locals and then wade through 10 replies of shit to get one semi-useful answer. Search and find what you want right away.
    4. Don't go in the j. crew thread.
    5. Don't let all the hostility run you off, they really just want you to do 1-3 but can't express themselves properly.

    6. Nobody here is going to do all the work for you. Unless you're willing to pay up.

Just saw that you're setting aside $3000.

Don't spend until you've browsed here for a couple of months.

You wanna spend the bulk of your money on outerwear and footwear.

Get a nice peacoat, i'm looking at a TOJ one right now. Nice outerwear usually costs at least $500 a piece

probably a nice leather too. round $600

You'll want a harrington style jacket for the warmer months around $100-300.

You can get some nice raw selvedge denim. $100-200 you'll want APC or naked and famous, $200-$300 you'd want something nice from selfedge.com.

Get some white achilles lo from Common Projects or something similar.

Get some nice oxford shoes, at least allen edmonds level.

Get some nice boots. Browse for examples.

can we just cut to the chase and make a mathematical formula for this already

i think if i bought all this at the beginning of my style development i'd kill myself

This guy's going to med school and he has to go to an online forum to learn about a basic wardrobe? Lord help us, indeed. "Doctor, I have this growth..." "Hold on, I'll look it up online."

It's not that surprising. Most doctors I know dress like crap.

There are no set rules. Only guidelines. The real key to dressing like a self respecting person to have some self respect. Be particular about what you want. Have an idea of what you want to look like. Your taste will change with time.

Aside from the fact that clothes matter in general, your clothes won't matter until third year.
