I've been looking for a dark grey or navy semi slim fit suit for a while now. My problem is I'm kind of between size 46 and 48 european (36 and 38 us), pretty muscular but my shoulders aren't too wide, so pretty much every suit I try either isn't slim enough, is too tight in the chest or too wide in the shoulders. Only thing that really fits me is a Tiger of Sweden Smiths size 48 (38 us) but that's almost 600 eur w/ modifications (~900 usd) at full retail. I've tried the usual stuff suggested here (zara, h&m) but haven't found a suitable fit yet. I'd like to pay max 400 eur (600 usd) including modifications (I usually need jacket sleeves, pants shortened etc). Anyone else have similar problems?

Ha, just as I was about to lose all hope I found another swede: a dark grey J Lindeberg for ~450eur at full retail. A bit more than I was hoping to pay and the sleeves and pants need shortening (tailoring is expensive here) but I think it fits great so I got it anyway. I'll maybe post some pictures for critique later when I get the mods done.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
