In A Wedding Next Month and Need a Black Suit

The title says it all. The Groom wants the Groomsmen to wear black suits. I don't own a black suit, nor do I want to invest a lot of money in one, as I don't ever see myself wearing a black suit. Furthermore, I can't wear suits off the rack because the drop isn't large enough. What should I do?

Go to the mens warehouse and try on several black suits and switch out the pants in the fitting room--then pay for your own alterations somewhere else.

Or--if the wedding is before 6pm, have a heart to heart talk with him about tradition?
