I'm thinking of putting a tree in my living room.

There is a lot of greenery right outside, and it might look nice to make it look like the nature passes through the big windows rather than being stopped at them. I don't know what tree to get. Suggestions?

Start with what you think you can keep alive.

I liked floragrubb for plant material, though I stopped going when I found out that was her real name. You may have more of an immunity for that kind of thing.

Get a light meter for $20 and figure out how much light you have. All those plants right outside the window might be blocking too much light. Consider which way the window is facing and how many hours of light you'll get during the winter and all that.

That way you can pick something that won't die.

I have a big (it's about 8' tall) corn plant in my kitchen. I don't know if it counts as a tree, but it looks like this:

Might need too much light though; mine is at the intersection of west and north-west windows and even then it's not as colorful as it was when I got it. Many plants turn solid green when they don't get enough light.

This looks good. An indoor tree is out of place*, so it's my belief that it should be pridefully obnoxious in a gheyish, droopy way. I don't know how you can get away with something that isn't proclaiming "Hey guiz. I'm a tree. Want to play shade?"

I think for this thread to gain traction you should p'shop together a layout plan of the room for us.

That is an awesome tree. Maybe too awesome for my place. Do you know what kind it is?

I will take light measurements. That is a good idea.

given the size of your place, i think you need a sequoia to maintain scale.

It's not big. It has big rooms.
