Hello everybody I speak for the property of Gruppo Vecchia Toscana SpA, tanning group of primary importance in Europe, I'm glad to announce you that the company has taken the management of Ilcea Tannery since 01/01/2014.
The entire technical staff of Ilcea still work for the tannery and all the historical articles are now available for production.
The entire production starts now from top quality raw calf hides (european origin), while, in the last years, the old Ilcea because of its financial problems, was forced to buy wet blue hides from many different origins and this fact caused some quality problems.
I think that this is an extremely good news for all the lovers of top end shoes, because Ilcea calf leather is unique.
I hope that Ilcea can return to the glories of the past and you will be able to buy top end shoes with Ilcea leather.
This is the website of Vecchia Toscana Group (you can also see a video of our plant and our productive process): http://www.gruppovecchiatoscana.com/htm.htm
While this is the new website of Ilcea (is under construction, soon you will be able to see all the articles): http://www.ilceaconceria.it/
For any question or doubt you can contact me in PM

That’s great news.

What do you mean, "two-way suede" or "two-way effect"?

Do you have any specific reason for discontinuing horsehide?

-Maybe the first page of Suede is not really correct. With two-way we would describe the effect of two different shades given by the hair of the calfskin.

-We discontinued horsehide because it is a marginal and very difficult business in which Ilcea doesn't have a good know how, so we decided to concentrate our efforts in the core business of calf leather, in which Ilcea has a very strong know how.

Where can one purchase smaller quantities of Ilcea leather? I am looking to supply a bespoke shoe maker that resides in Warsaw, Poland. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

You'll have better luck emailing or calling a leather merchant such as AA Crack and asking for some Ilcea crust calf. I'm sure there are other merchants in mainland europe as well

I have looked through the AA crack website. There are some nice leathers, but no Ilcea radica (museum calf), or crust calf. If you know of any other merchants please do share them.
