I'm 30 now and so far just can't do it. I think the bit loafers would probably work into the rotation before the tassel ones.

It all depends on where you live. I personally wouldn't wear shoes like those, but I know plenty of people here in Boston that certainly would.

I have them in brown, black and #8 shell. I prefer the BB variation, which has the stitching in the back, to the Aldens. I'd love to have a suede pair, too, but they're hard to find for my skinny feet.

As for the original question, I'm in my 50s, but I've been wearing them for 25+ years

Tassel loafers are probably the most trendy shoe for men at this particular moment in time. Did anyone notice?

    No...

People on Styleforum are willfully ignorant of trends, but I guess that is what makes them so "stylish" rather than fashionable.

Anyway, over the last year, tassel loafers have been extraordinarily fashionable with all sorts of new version coming out like this:

I'm 27 and I started wearing tassel loafers last year, just before I turned 26. I'm completely comfortable with them.

I even wear burgundy tassel loafers with pink socks.

Are you having a laugh or what?

I will prefer drinking my own urine than wearing those monstruosities in public.

Just turned 27. Three years ago, I was more into the bit loafer thing (Gucci and Ferragamo) with a sleek penny loafer on the side. The past few months, I have added two tassel loafers in cordovan (Ralph Lauren and Alden) in dark brown and ravello brown. The shoes get a lot of positive attention. I wear the Aldens mostly for business (suits, slacks, etc) and wear the Ralph Laurens with everything (suits, chinos, jeans, etc). I find tassels a step up from the normal bit loafers you see around hre.

I think it is more of a question of personal sartorial journey than pure simple demographics....

I used to like them when I was in my mid-twenties and now I can't stand them...

    Why?

    I don't really know...

I'm 55 y.o. and I have both black and burgundy Alden tassels (and a pair of cordovan full-strap loafers as well).

So do I. I have a pair in brown suede which i use during the summers. If you are 19 and are rocking tassles, you will get some remarks.Good and bad remarks. Mostly good ones. However I enjoy them too much too care about people sticking it to me.
