Not a bad suggestion.

I've seen some nice denim blue leather ones (maybe a bit harder wearin than suede?) on their website but haven't seen them in the flesh. Nieman Marcus and Saks had a poor selection.

+1 for alterations.

Whatever you already have, unless it already fits near-to-perfectly, will return the investment much more than spending the $400 on new stuff.

That said, if I had $400 burning a hole in my pocket, I'd sock it into my "B&S rainy day fund" and shark it relentlessly.

"Up to $400?" LOL!

I'd probably just put it into my bank account. If anything, I'd buy a few dress shirts and pants.

Good idea. I could probably find a few things that need touch ups.

Depends on how much time you have to decide. If you have the luxury of waiting, great sport coats can be acquired for $200-300 here on SF -- I'd say something basic in navy.

That + a pair of gray wool trousers that fit well would likely hit the $400 mark. And those two items alone will make you look much better on a day-in, day-out basis.

Change my mind, EngProf gave me some ideas.

1 equus belt
4 hober ties

1/3 of a pair of shoes can be unwieldy.

Yeah, I don't know. I feel like $400 isn't really enough to do much with. For myself anyway. I would save it until I had more money to buy something better rather than blow it just for instant gratification.

4 new Thomas Mason Silverline shirts from Nialma.

Or a pair of Aldens.
