I bought a RLPL black tux and flew home with it. I can't wait to wear it, but I still need to have the buttonholes stitched on the sleeves. I know I'll need it sometime soon and I'll have to rush it to my tailor and pleas with him to get it done in time. It's inevitable.

Isn't a Canadian tux on equal standing?

I'm in the "not gonna happen" camp for the loafers. Really, that's the only truly surprising requirement in that list. If anything, I'd venture to say that, were someone to ask me for a list of things defining the poorly dressed, loafers would come out right at the top.

Do you mind me asking what part of the country you're in and the age of the people in the weddings you're talking about? I've been to a ton of weddings in the past 5 years, probably 15 or so, none black tie. Some had grooms and groomsmen in horrific rented getups, with the high buttoning vest, etc.. But I don't think I have ever been to any occasion where even one man has been wearing correct, elegant, semi-formal evening dress. It's possible there was somebody at the one formal I went to in college, but I can't remember far back enough to know.

I went to private black tie party earlier this year but, surprise surprise, it was organized through SF. Good time.

NYC. I am not sure what the age of the people in the weddings has to do with anything. The black tie ones have been for both adults and twenty somethings (swidt) (and combinations). Except for middle aged people, it is usually the parents who are paying (for the black-tie ones, in particular). I am not saying they are always black-tie. Most aren't. But plenty are.

Sadly I was not invited else there would be a once-used tux hanging in my closet right now :)

Couldn't agree more. I pretty much think there is always a better looking option than a loafer. They just come across as somebody lazy who wants to look stylish.

    Is this a quiz?

    Is the answer 'hideous'?
