Because "admitting" to something in a public (or private) forum is not synonymous with a legal confession. Like Fidel said, interpol didn't roll up on Nick Cage with an arrest warrant for being an arms dealer after he made Lord of War.

Not quite, there varying degrees of Diplomatic Immunity granted to people depending on their status. What people generally think of as typical diplomatic immunity is given to the smallest number of diplomats.
