If it reads 8.5D on a Crockett & Jones, does that mean US 9.5B(narrow)

I assume all sizes written on the side of the insole of Crockett & jones (their own label not RL or BB) with ballpoint pen are UK sizes? So if it says 8 1/2 D, that should mean US 9.5B (narrow), right.

Or the C&J sold in US have US size written inside?

Thanks in advance!

Where are you buying them? What last? In any event, C&J D does not equal US B.

Correct. It's about a C. But, of course, it also depends on the last to some extent.

C&J I have from Barneys are maked with US sizes (e.g. 11D, 10 1/2 D).

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
