I have offers from LSE for business maths and statistics and from KCL for maths and management. I know LSE is the significantly better school and I'll have much better job prospects, but I do want to actually enjoy uni instead of being around singaporian kids whose only interest is getting a job and who don't do anything. Considering KCL because it's still a good school rank like 27th, but it'll actually be fun.

You should go party. I am sure by the time you are out we will be back in an economic boom cycle and you will be able to score a decent job despite the lower ranking instead of living under a bridge.

I know you're of the Queen and all that, but over here in the states lots of people from other colleges tend to crash the party schools on the weekends. Assuming you aren't a hermit and end up becoming associated with somewhat social people, you will inevitably find out about the nearby ragers and trek forth to conquer.

PS:

Also consider if you enjoy being more middle of the pack or super brainy relative to your student base. It really does impact the way you interact in classes/for any sort of academic needs. I don't know these two schools discussed, but it sounds to me like one is pretty high up there with all the international students, and the other is sort of a more local deal. If the former is really that much harder to get into than the easy school, you will probably be bored silly at the party uni.

LSE is rank 4 in the world for econ and KCL isn't that well ranked, still an excellent school though. I will be probably one of the least intelligent people at LSE no idea how I got in where as ill probably be pretty average at KCL I want to go to KCL because it will be so much more fun, but LSE is just such a good school, career prospects will be great. Theres tonnes of unis in London anyway though so I probably won't have a hard time being social anyway.

Honestly, the school will be what you make of it.

You seem like someone who would have fun at either school. If the only thing keeping you from picking LSE is that it sounds like less "fun" then I would say pick LSE.

I'm pretty sure you can party no matter what school you go to.

If you have a chance to go to one of the top schools in your field then go. No one there cares if you are the smartest. You have something that they think will contribute to the education of the class. Get gentleman's Cs and enjoy the people you meet there. They will be world leaders one day and might be useful to you later in life.

LSE is plenty fun. Have you visited?

Yeah my sister goes there, seems pretty boring to be honest. She's constantly stressed out and doesn't go out at all and all she cares about is internships. Seems pretty miserable. Im not as academically focused as her though so I think i'll be able to have more fun, even if the schools a bit boring socially ill be in the middle of London. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go to LSE, just can't turn down such a good school. My sisters got $50k a year job offers already during her 2nd year and thats just the pay during training, don't know if I could do that from KCL.

I am kind of scared the course will be too hard, im not that smart, I have no idea why they accepted me. I think it's because I wrote about flipping 10s of thousands of dollars of clothes on SF in my personal statement and they found that interesting.........

This. There are fun people on any campus, but even if LSE does have fewer of them you're still in central London.

So maybe your sister is that type.

I went to a school known for not being fun (for being where fun comes to die actually) and I enjoyed myself. Sure there were kids who spent every night in the library but there were also plenty of people like me who certainly put in the occasional hard effort but didn't tear their hair out over little things and there were people who put in even less effort who went out even more.

We don't publish an average GPA but from the unofficial numbers floating around, I think I beat it without making what I felt were significant changes to my work habits from high school that got me in in the first place. Obviously you have to take it seriously, but whatever you have been doing up until now has been good enough to get you in there and it will probably also get you through it--and it sounds like you manage to have plenty of fun right now.

Sure, if I had gone to a good state school I would probably have had a slightly easier time (although they are less forgiving than elite schools), I would have had marginally more fun, and I would have probably found a good enough job after graduation--but I can promise you that I wouldn't be on my current career track if I hadn't gone to the elite school. Its not that I wouldn't have been as smart or as capable if I had gone to a lower ranked school (so I wouldn't have done badly) but when you are afforded the opportunity to go to an elite school, there are doors that will open for you just because you are knocking--with the other schools you might still be able to get in the door but you're gonna have to show up with a key or be escorted in.
