So I'm 17, living in Los Angeles; which means within about 1 month it will be too hot to be wearing peacoats/sweaters/jackets/blazers and the like. It also means I have a budget. Since most of you live in colder climates where layering is necessary (and possible to get some great looks) there doesn't seem to be much talk about summer fashion. Or simply, how to make an outfit consisting of shoes, underwear, jeans and a shirt look good.

I've been lurking here for a bit and managed to revamp the way I dress by soaking up some of what I've been reading here.

Usually during the hotter days; I wear plain tshirts in various colors (both crew and vnecks), striped shirts, graphic T's (in a simple design), shortsleeve buttonups (solid or western) and the odd plain polo (although I think this will have to go; it probably clashes with raw denim) matched with jeans. Any other ideas to make these fits less boring? Different shirts, accessories? thanks.

PS: For the record, I detest indie music and the whole hipster lifestyle on the grounds that they are both pretentious about bad music and that they smell funny. I also do not have Ivy League aspirations.

You list of your summer clothes seems pretty standard around here, although if you specify the brands/sizing you'll get many different comments and opinions.

If you want critiques, post fits, otherwise you're best bet is to scan the WAYWT thread and go back to last year and see what people wore in Summer 08, you'll get plenty of ideas.

I have no idea what your generalization and stereotyping of a particular "lifestyle" has to do with anything else in this thread, a quick look at the forum and it's pretty obvious to see that "hipster" is a minority around here. A stupid comment like that is probably going to get more attention that your original question.

I swear what's with people using hemingway as a reference for a style of the non-literary sort?

Perhaps some bracelets and necklaces should be used as they're more visible when you're not wearing jackets, etc.

Sunglasses?

A particular way of carrying yourself so it seems you're not relying on a peacoat or piece of clothing to be your only redeeming quality (not saying that's the case with you)?

Yeah hipsters can die. (i look like one about half the time though :/)

Thanks. No idea how I missed that. Especially it being on the front page and all .

It's a reference to another poster who has a thread of a similar title. I'm just looking for any other ideas for summerwear beyond the basics I have (they are mostly H&M, AA, UO and some thrift).

^^. I'll have to look around for some bracelets or necklaces; sunglasses I'll do without, I haven't found a pair where I don't absolutely douchey.

Thin metal frames with a lens size to fit your face - voila, not a douche. Even if they're made by Oakley.

As long as you don't hang them backward when you're indoors, at least.

I'm sure curious on some of your thoughts on how to make underwear interesting for S/S.
