Was watching The Irishman and liked how Pesci's glasses not only fit his face but had a slight tint to them. The frames are thick with a glossy piano black finish. No markings on the face, but they do have a lot in common with Anglo American 'Baskerville' frames I've owned previously with a bit of a stern brow and bump on the bridge. Notably, the frames have what look like a thin rose gold bar on the stem right at the hinge. I imagine that is a brand mark that I'm unaware of and hope somebody knows the brand. Other glasses in the film all have pretty identifiable off the shelf frames; i'm hoping these are too.

Also, it looks like they have multiple lenses for the frames depending on different scenes. Generally there's a a light gray fade that is substantially darker in the top quarter but doesn't carry the fade all the way down. Nice effect. How does one achieve that?

Thanks in advance for any help.

These are the Anglo American 'Baskervilles' i referenced at top.

You can ask for that tint wherever you go to get your eyewear converted into sunglasses. You tell them you want a gradient tint. Then choose the color/ darkness of the top half.

Photochromic lenses will also do something similar, but not in a gradient. I find that they often have a very subtle tint to them anyway.

I have a few pairs like this in Jacques Marie Mage and Dita. A couple of Moscot frames also work well with this look.

Thanks. I understand the concept of a faded tint. Just have never had much luck picking out the right %. Had thought of doing this to my Lemtoshs at one point.

Still on the hunt for MAKER of the frames if anyone has any ideas.

Good find, Dan F. Looks like a match or at least close. Will spend some time tonight looking for a better image. I'm currently wearing sunglasses as my main frames and it shouldn't be surprising that I would continue to do that.

[I think Dan's post got pulled because it looked like spam but he'd linked to superfutureretro frames that are a strong contender. ]

As pointed out previous by Dan F., it would appear these are SuperFutureRetro Classic frames. He pointed to a Classic 02 that I can't find. The Classic in piano black looks a very close if not same frame...

Can anyone with better eyes than mine weigh in on whether this is a match or just close?

They are custom Super classic Black sunglasses. The eyewear site EYEGOODIES did a feature on it and are also offering a custom. You can see the post here:

Thanks for the link and the confirmation, myStyle. I would like to underscore that styleforum members got to the answer the old-school way, a week in advance of the article that verifies.

Such a wealth of knowledge here.

Now the battle that remains is whether Pesci is really rocking a 60% gradient. It's a good guess.
