So this might be a bit of a contentious starter, but I am wondering what items of clothing or footwear are icons or timeless? If you had to put together the timeless wardrobe for all occasions, what would it be? I'd love to get everyones thoughts.

Some people might say the LLBean duck boots, others might say the Mackintosh in a fawn color, others might say Turnbull and Asser shirts with their multibutton cuffs. Any and all will be appreciated!

I want to know what you all think!

I'll bite. I am generally thinking of iconic American style. Also, these are not necessarily clothes I own or even like, but what springs to mind.
Footwear: Timberland boots, Sperry topsiders, Converse Chuck Taylors, Bass Weejuns, wing tips (straightforward broguing)
Pants: Levis jeans, Flat front khakis (not sure about a brand, but the simpler the better).
Shirt: Brooks Brothers oxford cloth button down, Lacoste polo, Pendleton work shirt
Jacket: Leather bomber, Levis jean jacket, Nylon windbreaker
Suit: Brooks Brothers Sack

Timeless would be different from iconic. Tuxedos are timeless, Converses are iconic.

Fair enough but some items can be both. I am looking for timeless, or iconic, or both. I just want to know, what the all star team is (for lack of a better term) for everyone.

I think porcelain monkey hit it spot-on, especially brand-wise, although I might argue now that Ralph Lauren's Polo shirts are far more iconic than Lacoste, despite Lacoste being older and better made. I would also add Onitsuka Tigers and some classic Adidas sneakers to the mix. I agree, however, that Converse Chuck Taylors are by far the most iconic/timeless sneaker.

some randoms here (not mentioned yet, that come to my mind):
  • Doc Martens
  • Burberry coats
  • fedora + panama hats
  • rugby shirts - not sure which brand
  • Aero leathers
  • Armani suits
  • argyle and cable knits (not together)
  • tight leather pants
too late to think about more

Good list, though I can't think of anything by Berluti as "iconic." I'd add the following:

Burberry DB trench
Alden 405's
JM Weston 180's
JL Williams
Hermes briefcases, in calf or croc
White linen pocket squares generally
RLPL Keaton in white
Tiffany's plain sterling money clips
