You know this is gonna get silly fast.

^ somehow, I could actually see you pull off a vest though...

Um, yeah, for years I never thought I'd ever wear a pink oxford. Love 'em now. Somehow with jeans and some sharp boots, it's on the money. Reminds me it's all about how you wear it...

    But to your point:
    cycling jerseys as streetwear.
Those dumb barracks-style drab caps all the emo db's are wearing.
    Bangs.
    A moustache.
    Polarized sunglasses.
Real motorcycle gear without a bike.
    Jodphurs.
    Chaps.
A cowboy hat unless I'm in NM and the hat is straw.
    A bolo dress tie.
A blue blazer with gold buttons
    Seersucker
A derby or any straw hat (except NM - see above)
    A cane
    Platorm shoes or bell bottoms
    Perforated or mesh anything

More later after my shivers go away...

Why on earth would you not wear polarized sunglasses?

    My list:

    argyle
    tassel loafers
    jorts
    cargo pants/shorts
    sweater vests
    bowties
    camo
polyester work out wear (esp. Adidas)
    cowboy hats/boots
    carpenter jeans
    anything purple

    The reflective ones, silly. However...

But see - that goes with my 'jodphurs' hangup.

I'd also never wear this (sadly, by Paul Smith):

There are very few things mentioned in this thread that I'm sure I'd actually NEVER wear. The closest is probably drop crotch pants. I've yet to see a pair I thought looked good incorporated into a fit and even on the runway I've rarely liked them. I'm hesitant to say never though.

Most of the rest of the stuff I do/could imagine myself wearing someday. Or at least I wouldn't wager a lot against it. I'm not entirely sure what the situation would be where I'd be wearing denim shorts, but I have a long life ahead of me.

    I want in...

    • Bootcut pants (too skinny to pull this off)
    • Plaid flannel shirts (already did this in the early 90's...looked retarded then, looks retarded now)
    • Braided leather belts (I might consider if I am a fat bastard that keeps gaining weight cause these belts do not have pre-punched holes)
    • Down vest (just looks dumb)
    • Dress sneakers (those hybrid dress looking shoes with rubber soles)

How does a down vest look dumb? That's a curious statement.

Polyester or synthetic pants/anything unless I'm working out (which is typically never), skinny skinny jeans, technical clothing, anything neon, striped dress/sport shirts, stud belts, bootcut pants, cotton socks, hm...

I guess "dumb" is a bit of an overstatement but I never understood the point of it.

It obviously has to be cold when you are wearing a down vest but doesn't that leave your arms cold?

I don't think anyone should ever wear that.

(Unless it's on the clearance rack at Urban Outfitters -- the Twilight Zone of fashion -- in which case all rules go out the window.)
