I'm currently doing the velocity diet. I am about 2 weeks in and am very pleased with the results. I started at 160 and am now at 154, and have significantly improved definition in arms and torso.

I've modified it since my willpower is not as strong as many of the others on the fitness forums. I'm doing the shakes during the day for breakfast and lunch, then the solid meal for dinner. I also skip shakes if I'm not hungry. Heres a link. It's not cheap, but its easy to buy everything from one place, and it replaces 2 meals a day for over a month.

Unless you're like 5'6", lol at using an extreme diet to cut at 160 lbs.

After careful consideration, I have to agree with you on this.

All of the actual exercises in the 8 minute abs workout are good ones. I'm not going to get in an e-pissing conversation with you, but doing multiple reps of the exercises that have been demonstrated in that video has been very useful and productive for me. Not sure why the need to say "you don't lift"? I'm in good health and have a good physique. :satisfied:

Nah, if you get strong enough abs they'll pop through anyway. I'm probably in the teens for BF% but have a six-pack on my stomach, and also on my back. That is what happens by doing 285lb clean and jerks, 500lb deadlifts, 245lb overhead squats, weighted dragon flags, etc.

Abdominals are intended to stabilize the midsection to transmit power from the lower body to the arms, or when forces are unequal at the shoulders and hips--- the primary intention of abs is NOT to fold up on yourself while lying on a bosu ball. Ditch the crunches and grab a barbell. Or learn gymnastics... I guarantee most gymnasts don't do crunches or situps, they just utilize extreme force differentials between the upper and lower body and then call on their abdominals to stabilize the midsection against those forces. Planches, levers, etc.

As stated earlier, it is rather obvious you are no weightlifter if 8 minute abs is your way to abdominal strength.

Look, hey, finally a dude who actually knows what they're talking about.

I'm actually 5'7", and I don't think substituting 2 meals for protein shakes a day is that extreme. Like I said, I modified it so that I eat one meal a day (dinner) and drink shakes for other meals and snacks.

I did that diet on a whim trying to make weight for crew rowing back in uni. It was the worst thing I ever did to myself physically. Just do the normal cycled ketogenic diet. Every single athlete uses carb cycling when they need to cut down, and they still manage to eat solid food.

Do you do crossfit at a gym or at home? I'd like to get into it, but all the places where I live are prohibitively expensive.

How are you finding crossfit? I've heard lots of great things about it, but I'm not sure what the actual workouts themselves are, and I've been thinking about joining a local crossfit group. I've been very curious.

It's a mix of weight training and cardio with some novel exercises thrown in. It's a fun way to train if you get bored easily.
