I tried on Thom Browne -- not so bad

So, for kicks, I tried on some Thom Browne at Bergdorf today. I tried on size 0 and 1 jackets; the 1 felt a lot more comfortable to me, but the 0 was closer to how I imagine Thom Browne is 'supposed' to look. I could almost wear the size 1 as a normal jacket: the shoulders were dead-on, and the back fit nicely (except for some roll behind the collar). The only real changes I'd make would be to nip in the waist and, obviously, shorten the sleeves.

Here are some photos of the size 1. Sorry for the poor quality; apparently you can't take photos in Bergdorf. The Thom Browne salespeople both insisted that the jacket was an improvement over the Rubinacci jacket I came in with. What do you think?

Looks good, except the sleeves are too long. I would leave the waist as is. Could they alter the sleeves and still keep the bell shape and piping?

I almost went to Bergdorf today. That I didn't is proof you don't exist in real life.

Setting aside the theatrical nature of the coat, I like the high contrast on you, and I think you look great in the skinny lapels.

Well, with TB on you look even more like a schoolboy. Stick to Rubinacci.

Snarky reaction #2: That is way '70s. I have a picture of myself at age 5 in a jacket almost identical. I think I was the same height.

I saw the paisley jacket, but I don't think they had it in a 1--and I would never even remotely think of wearing it in actuality.

The fit is nice other then the sleeves of course, they just look too much like uniforms.

It looks like a size too big. The shoulders fit well, but the sleeves are simply too much.

I like it on you and think it looks pretty good. I'm sure you wouldn't want to wear it everyday, but it might make a nice alternative to your usual and something that is SLIGHTLY more fashion-forward without being costume-y.

Edit; to all those saying, "No way this is better than Rubinacci!" Obviously, that's not the point. The two are completely different aesthetics with different purposes and intents. I think it is much more interesting to have BOTH looks and styles as potentials in your wardrobe. Different styles for different days, both of which nevertheless look interesting and nice for their designated purposes.
