I’m in Sanosay at the moment

Yeah he had a hard on for Frisco. Don’t know why; look through old newspapers or books that mention it and ‘Frisco’ is all over the place.

My favorite Herb Caen quote was from a column he wrote in the 50s: “San Francisco. The city that’s always ready to party - as soon as it finds a parking spot.”
I had a lot favorites but one I really liked was calling Colma “ the city that waits for the city that waits to die to die” still makes me laugh :D

Back in the early 70s when I was at San Jose State we we had a group ,mostly hippiefied Vietnam vets on GI bill, some of their girlfriends and a couple of profs, who would meet in the " stupid union" for coffee. Someone would cruise the ashtrays for long butts we would dump out and reroll and a copy of the Chron. First order of business was always the reading of Herb.

I’ve always thought Colma should adopt the slogan “The Town to Shop Till You Drop!”

When I came to California with a girlfriend I lived with a service buddy in San Bruno. His girlfriend worked for a veterinarian in Colma and we only had 1 car between the 4 of us so I ended up there a lot . Fascinating place

So, San Francisco has decided to go for its own version of Michael Bloomberg, but without the actual experience of building a company. I genuinely hope he succeeds, but these coming four years were already set to be extremely challenging before the rest of the country elected a guy who is obsessed with sh!tting on California and San Francisco specifically.

Warm enough earlier in the day to grab some seats at GGP. These seats were so comfy my partner dozed off multiple times.

The Bomb Cyclone wasn't very bombey or cycloney. Just got some mild rain on the Peninsula.

Fortunately there aren't too many trailer parks there.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
