I currently own no shoes that are appropriate for wear with a suit. Part of the reason is that I've always thought my big feet look ridiculous in non-sneaker shoes. However, I've committed myself to finding a good pair, especially after my luck with these RLPL EGs on eBay (not suit-worthy, but they convinced me that my feet can look good in real shoes). I've concluded, thanks to an earlier discussion here, that a shoe with a tightly beveled waist and small welt will make my foot look most reasonable, as will a loafer with a short vamp. However, because I would like to wear these shoes with a suit, I've decided that loafers aren't my best bet. I don't want to spend too much, because I won't be wearing them that often. I was thinking something like this, which goes for around $375. I also like these, but I haven't tried them on and think they would be significantly more expensive. The first are Cole Haan Collection, which I've tried on and think they look decent. The second are Santoni, and I have no idea what they might look like on my foot. I also gather that brown is more versatile than black and acceptable in almost all the same occasions, but if I'm wrong please correct me. For reference, I've tried on Allen-Edmonds shoes but they all look huge on my feet; I need something sleeker. Any thoughts on these 2 shoes? Recommendations for what else I should be looking at? Thanks.
