Made my first purchase ever from Gilt yesterday during their final sale. I bought two pairs of RRL jeans. Any reason to be scared? Are they going to be coming from Sierra Leone or some ****?

I don't order anything I'm not familiar with, and if I miss a sale don't get all crazed, because a lot of the designers didn't really catch on, hence the need to move stock of "$200" shoes for $40. And some of the offerings are just hideous...

All the items I wanted from their 'final sale' were either in the wrong size or in other members' carts.

And this is not even counting all the other stuff that were already out of stock by the time I looked, 10 minutes after the sale started. But oh well, a penny saved is a penny earned.

I still check the Gilt site a few days a week especially when I see an upcoming designer that I am familiar with and interested in (Hickey, HF, Facconable, Ike Behar, RL stuff...) but I no longer log on right at noon everyday religiously like I used to.

I agree with one of the previous posters that there are usually better deals to be had on the more casual stuff as well and keep an eye out for some of my other favorites like Victorinox, Canterbury New Zealand, and Unis.

The only times I actually log in to Gilt are when they have the final sales, like they did a few days ago. The site is usually bargain over selection anyway so why not get the best bargain you can?

Yeah the sizes are usually crap by that point, but being a US size 44 means that sometimes you can luck out and grab some XL stuff that nobody else touched. That said, my only purchase this round was a Billy Reid button down I grabbed for $30 that looked like it would work for this fall. I would have grabbed a pair of Rag & Bone pants they had in my size but that 10 minute cart limit got the best of me and I lost them.

Yeah the selection is the worst part. Today at the Grenson sale of course it was the castoffs from UK sales about 6 months ago... desert boots, brogues with garish colors and weird stitching. The only ones that caught my eye were the blue oxfords, but the $150 price tag didn't have me hurrying to pull the trigger.

+1 -- I don't buy from them because of their store credit only returns - you're just trapped into buying more crap.
