Lance (VCH) does not get enough accolades on this forum as far as I am concerned. Top notch service and products. These are a pair of hand made Mantellasi's that I purchased from him. Lance's low prices on these shoes borders on the ridiculous. When I opened the box, the quality blew me away. When I showed my wide the signed/engraved Mantellassi soles, she said "holy shit!!". I wanted them a bit darker/antiqued and I spent this afternoon polishing and repolishing them. This is how they look after the first round. I plan on doing more polishing tomorrow. Would love any suggestions.

    The left shoe is unpolished.

I'd probably be careful of calling her that to her face. [IMG]

    Nice shoes.

I wish I had a SO that appreciated men's shoes so viscerally.

Damn, me too. Shame there's no streetwear equivalent of VCH.

The darkening looks really good. Did you use shoe cream, wax polish, or some combination of the two to achieve that effect?

Great shoes! I'm still waiting for that magical confluence of events--Lance get a shipment of Mantellassi models that I like, in my size, *and* I have enough cash in hand to buy. I have *got* to stop going to that Ferragamo outlet store.

Russ, these are from Lance's previous Mantellassi shipment (2-3 months ago).

Dan, I used tan shoe polish first, which was the shoe's color. Then I followed up with a brown shoe polish, which got them dark. I followed with black shoe polish, which got the shoes very dark, Finally, I followed with another coat of brown shoe polish, which lightened up the black and left black streaks throughout the shoe. I'm going to keep using the brown polish until the black becomes very faint.

Those look awesome!! I'm one of the (seemingly) few geezers who likes penny loafers on this forum...and those are hella sweet. Great shape, has a hipper vibe to them.
