I love small town cleaners

Usually I'll try and get my clothes cleaned in Montreal, but I live in a small town in the summer and most of the local population are a bunch of scrubs whose suits cost less than my shirts.

Well today I dropped my stuff off at the cleaners because i didn't have time to go to Montreal. To be cleaned: 1 suit, 2 pairs of $400 flat front, creaseless pants and a $200 shirt.

For a bit of backstory, last summer i brought them an expensive tie that had gotten a small spot on it. They got the spot out, but they pressed the tie so hard that you can see the outline of the lining still today and the tie was ruined.

So anyway, knowing this i ask them not to to press ANYTHING, just to clean it and i'd worry about pressing myself. "Sorry, if they're being cleaned they have to be pressed" I'm like "Huh? What does one have to do with the other?" and she says "Sorry, we just can't do it." So resigned to the fact that i don't have much choice I give in and say "Fine, but DON'T put creases down the middle of the 2 pairs of pants." Of course she's a cleaner and knows everything about men's clothes "But these types of pants usually have creases down the middle." In my head I'm thinking "HI YOU r****d I BOUGHT THEM OK? PLEASE JUST TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THEY DON'T NEED CREASES DOWN THE MIDDLE." Finally I'm able to convey to her that they're not supposed to be creased and I ask her to put a big note on them to that effect.

Why do i have this feeling deep inside of me that my pants are gonna be fubar when i go pick them up tomorrow =/

GQG:

Take them somewhere else. Most dry cleaners just don't understand how to treat good clothes properly.

Well, normally I would have waited until i could take time to go to montreal and get them done, but i had a red ink stain from god knows where on the back of one pair of pants so i wanted to get them cleaned asap. The suit I'm not that worried about cause a couple years old (from before i started buying really nice clothes) and I only wear it to wait tables.

Oh while we're on the subject of cleaners, do most places put safety pins through pants and the hangars to hang them? It seems lots of places do this and it's really not good for the pants...

GQG: regarding safety pins and pants, I never do this. Check out the hanging trousers thread a few lines down. Lots of good suggestions there.
