I like Nudie. Am I a dork?

New to Superfuture and StyleForum but not new to fashion even though it takes a lot of work living in the cultural and fashion netherworld that is WV. BTW, Not hating on my home which I love but it does have its drawbacks.

I see a lot of disdain for Nudies(almost to the point of Diesel) and just wondered why. I like 'em. The cuts are accessible and the wealth of information available online makes them a pretty easy jean to buy when you live in the sticks which most of the U.S. does.

They are definitely a gateway drug though because they led me to the dark side of denim obsession which is Superfuture. I know there is a lot of sarcasm here and the other SF which is why I like it so if you must flame me please be creative ALA Cheapmutha. Mike

Basically, Nudies aren't as rare as they used to be, and nothing is any good if other people like it. So Nudies aren't cool anymore. [edit] I submit for you exhibit A: incontrovertible proof.

Read the sarcasm in my title. I was really referencing the "Match the personality to the denim" thread. It seems that the Japanese companies are held in much higher regard than Nudie, APC and others in "cool factor".

I just wondered if there really are denim snobs. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm considered a snob among my peers in my other and main obsession which is motorcycles. I have a Ducati, an Aprilia, and a Honda and I refer to my Honda as my disposable bike and my Italians as keepers so all my riding friends call me a Starbucks Poser and I sorta get the feeling that Nudies et. al. are looked at the same way. It wouldn't change my mind on it, just curious. Mike

well, it's also because nudie really is something of a gateway drug, and Nudie's decline in forum popularity has coincided with a greater availability of Japanese denim from coldrice/2000db. Actually- now that I write that out, I'm not sure if that refutes your post or supports it

Maybe your whole post is sarcastic and I'm just too drunk to realize. I revert back to my original question, do people really hate Nudies?

I think Japanese companies are more highly regarded based on lack of availability and price thus making their customers a tad more snobbish than the average denim consumer. But then some Nudies use Japanese denim and those pairs are usually more coveted than the standard fare.

In all seriousness, there's been a slowly building backlash against them, partially for legitimate reasons (they've always been stupidly overpriced in the US because of greedy US distribution) and partially for very stupid reasons (they're not Japanese repros). The original post, obviously, overstated the situation, but it's not without basis.

so where to get Nudie on the cheap? Best I can find the regular ralfs in the states are $198 after discount..
