I know I'm going to break these shoes again. Help!

I recently had to return a pair of Alden longwings because the metal shank broke and kept clicking every step I took. Got a new pair and I'm starting to feel the problem again. It feels like the right foot fits differently than the left. I get a pain in the forefoot and toes on the right which I assume is due to the way my foot is flexing in the shoe. It feels like the muscles of that foot are strained after walking all day.

Never had this problem with other shoes. Size feels good although could be a touch smaller. Would an arch or heel insert help? Anyone have this problem with pain in the forefoot?

So I guess no one has had this type of problem. I'll try a arch insert and see if that helps.
