I just placed an order with my local watchmaker for my first serious watch - an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 2201.50.00! YAYAYAYAYAYAY

I'm a longtime Omega guy. I think I have 3 in regular rotation now (1 modern and 2 vintage). Great watches.

Congrats.

EDIT: Oh...and BTW...this entire forum is a waste of space, so don't feel bad.

Congrats, you'll love it. Your first automatic watch? Do you have a winder yet?

Good enough for James Bond and Astronauts, probably good enough for anyone.

Yep. First auto. I wasn't planning on getting a winder as this is going to be on my wrist whenever I'm not sleeping or at the gym. I'm selling my two quartz watches, and my other watch is a manual wind that I'm religious about keeping wound every day.

Do you recommend getting one even if it is going to be worn constantly?

Nice choice, I love my Panerai and JLC. Would have several more if they weren't so damn expensive

I do, because really, everyone needs to mix it up and put on a different watch now and then. At the very least, a winder acts as a nice display case so you can admire it like a goddamn moon rock or something. I got one from Brookstone, it's quite handsome and dead silent.

I have three winders and never use them anymore. It's just not that hard to set and wind my watches. If I had 25 and was worried about the oil congealing on watches that I didn't wear for 2 years I might feel differently. If I have only one auto, I wouldn't waste the money. Spend it on a second watch.
