1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

I think you need to get those shoes we were talking about to go with it. [IMG]

Going along with the hijacking --

I need the suit to get in because I've never had luck getting a reservation there (could be because I procrastinate.). I need to be able to walk up and say, "Table for two please." When they say, "I'm sorry, sir, but you need a reservation," I respond, "Don't you know who my father is?" I've used that line a couple of times and of course it hasn't worked (perhaps I should have an answer when the maitre de says, "No I don't"). Perhaps if I were wearing a "badass suit" it would be different.

Second, I was interviewing on the 9th Circuit and you are right -- no suits. To some extent it'd be cool wearing jeans to work every day (as some of my friends do out there), on the other hand it's nice to have an excuse to buy a few nice suits.

I used to go to Matsuhisa on a semi-regular basis - much more laidback, and cheap (all relative to Nobu) to boot. To be perfectly honest, and maybe I'm just a pleb, but I always felt much more at home at Ubon than any of the places. Plus, it was much more affordable after having blown all my money shopping in the area.

And at Matsuhisa, I hardly ever saw anyone in a suit either. If someone ever showed up in a suit, they were invariably from out of town or a CBS executive type (hey, those guys need to eat too, and it's just down the street, in L.A. terms.)

    Johnnynorman,

In L.A., the host or hostess is unlikely to be impressed by a suit. They'll guess that you're probably not anybody important and surmise that you're probably not cool, unless the suit is glaringly, obviously, expensive - and you have an entourage. Better to show up with a Project Alabama t-shirt or a Lucien-Pellat Finet hoodie. Seriously, L.A. is the place where people will recognize those labels on sight.

Thanks for the nice comments on the suit. I felt like it was a good buy. It's exactly what I was looking for really - a fashioable, well constructed suit that's just conservative enough to not be trendy or dated within a year or two. For less than $500 no less. It's funny how you can start to doubt your own judgement as soon as you lay out the dough. I feel really good about it now though, having passed muster with the clothes horses here. [IMG] I was considering a grey flannel Borrelli that I saw at worldsfinest's wearhouse, but it was more than twice as expensive, and I like the styling of this one better anyways. And I don't mind the threadjack - it makes me feel important when I log on and see 3 pages on my thread. [IMG]

Yes, well...Don't remind me. [IMG] I may have finally blown my budget, with this suit and the Martegani boots and a visit to the Stanley Korshak sale in Dallas. It may be a while now. But I'll be thinking about them...
