Here's the haul I got past the LCBO kryptonite, oops, I mean Canada Customs.

Today I bought two wines.

Sam's Wine in Chicago put out their "Top 100 Wines of 2008" list and it was pretty solid. I'm not sure whether that's done through tastings, or by sales, or by a combination, but the list seemed solid. This wine was at #12 or 13. I don't know if it's that good of a wine, but it's solid enough of a wine to not pass up if you see it for $12.99.

I also bought this champagne for graduation night. Not exactly big-timer status, but it's relatively big-time for a small-timer like me. I do have a question on optimal storage though--- do you store it cool or do you store it room temp and then serve it cool?

I enjoy Feuillate's vintage offerings. Not expensive, either. The Crawford really is a decent SB, too. Nice.

I tasted the NF NV in my tasting class and really liked it. I was surprised to find the bottle for around $40. The SB is definitely solid. I can't complain at $13.

We just picked up a 2005 Coniglio Cab after enjoying some at a tasting. For $40 it's terrific.

Picked up a random Tuscan blend, it as enjoyable but lacked a little.

Also a small bottle of Bulldog gin, just to give it a test drive. It seemed rather floral, but that was after having consumed the previously mentioned bottle of wine.

Bought a couple modestly priced wines today. The one on the right is made by Maynard, from Tool and PC.

Nice! I like Pinot Noir from NZ.
Try Ata Rangi too, one of my favourite.

Just ordered some Peay. Got a nice allocation, but didn't take all of it.

What does the board think of rum? I just bought a bottle of Pyrat on a lark and I was hoping to get some thoughts on the art of high-end rum.
