the other night I opened a 2005 Domaine du Pere Caboche "La Mirande" Chateaneuf du Pape. The tannins were significantly tamer and smooth than I've come to expect from CdP. Nice wine.

The local Total Wine ran a $5 off $50 spirit coupon, which they never normally run, so I went on a bit of a booze binge last night. Managed to snag a bottle of Pappy 12 that was leftover from a special order. Snatched that fucker up quick as it's been impossible to find down here. Got a bottle of Bulleit and a rum suggestion from the manager to replace my recently deceased Ron Matusalem. Will post pics in a bit.

recently tried these for the first time:

Sierra Nevada Southern Hemisphere Harvest Ale
Duck-Rabbit Seasonal (a Belgian barleywine style)
Victory Golden Monkey (a Belgian tripel style)
Ommegang Abbey Ale (a Belgian dubbel)

Toss up between the Ommegang and the Golden Monkey for my favorite of the bunch.

found a $9 bottle of 2004 Barbera d'Asti. Older, but I figured I'd give it a go. It was great! Bright raspberry, well integrated acidity, and a hint of cotton candy on the nose. Perfect with the Neapolitan pizza I rocked.

Put in an order with a friend to bring my back from duty free a bottle of Macallans Sherry Oak, and she came back with a bottle of Macallans Elegancia.

    Anyone tried it?

Went to a fundraiser the other night and bid on a few silent auction items. One of the things I won was a bottle of Remy Martin XO identical to the one I posted a couple of weeks ago...but $40 cheaper. [IMG]

And for a good cause as well. [IMG]

Nice score Mark! And for a good cause. I donated a case last week for a charity auction. Included a bottle of the '07 Merry Edwards Sauv. Blanc. My estimated value was $300 for the case, they got $700.

    PandArts, enjoying your pics!

Now, I found these two Pinots on sale for $15 each. What I knew, was these guys sell in the $23-5 dollar range and that they were #73 on this 2008's Top 100 list by WS. Looking forward to trying them.

That's a gin from Holland in the right. It's been aged in oak, thus the colour. It has a very interesting, yet un-ginish taste.
