I think you made solid choices, but would slow down your spree until you've tried on Alden and others.

Congrats CMJTPerry. You seem very happy with your various recent purchases and that's what matter in the end.

You mean the satisfaction you get when you finally reach the summit?

Don't listen to all the naysayers. The AE bug is not as malicious as the EG ones and they do not wreck havoc on people's marriages as $600 aldens or $1000 EGs.

Exactly why I will not go above Alden. My wife looked at my shoes the other day, noticed a couple new pairs and has been a little unhappy since. But what are you gonna do?

Yes, if you survive the climb.

Myabe they arent as malicious, but really I think that not knowing how to budget is far more dangerous.

I just drop a twenty into a little tin can at the end of each week - my G&G fund. All it takes are a few small sacrifices during the week - a latte that I didn't need here, something else there. At the end of the year I can buy some new G&Gs guilt free & my wife can't really complain (other than of course she could think of a thousand better uses for the 1G).

To the OP: You'll find that there is a very Anglophilic taste in shoes on this forum, with most people preferring more expensive footwear from the other side of the pond. Don't let them bother you. Nothing wrong with AEs at all. If and when you do want to upgrade to pricier stuff, let that be your decision.

This.

Although I don't like a lot of AE shoes, the nice ones they do have offer a lot of shoe for your money.

Enjoy the new kicks and wear them in good health
