I had polish my Alden Cordovan with the alden #8 polish the polish build up on the leather
I don't know if you can see it in the picture .But it seems that the upper have lost the classic Cordovan Colour
I'm not using any polish after that I just brush and cloth after and before wearing and a I can see a thin dark gunk that it doesn't go away
They are shining yes but..
I have used to much polish ? What I can do bring them back to the original
colour?
Thanks in advance for help me

I have a pair of tobacco cordovan by Alden and I use the "Color No. 8 Cordovan". It is a warm color. I was just wondering if you used the polish recommended for Cordovans. At any rate, I'm sure the true characteristic of Cordovan will come back.

Yes I have used the Color No. 8 Cordovan i get it when i bought the shoes
So the one recommended
I did'nt follow the suggestion on the Alden of CArmel shoe care (I have an uncle wich he invite me to just brush the Cordovan)I just apply once with a dump cloth
Now the front (where probaly i put more polish ) is darker of the back and of the side of the shoe
Thanx

I can't tell what's wrong by the picture. They look fine to me. But if you wanted to strip all the polish off, there are ways to do that, which vary in their harshness/possibility of damaging the shoes.

I am with J. Can't see what's wrong. I would not wax cordovan often. I wax polish mine once every few months, even with regular use. Just brush off regularly and buff with a clean cloth.
