Give it a while. The longer you wait before washing or soaking, the more the creases set in. Once you start to see a visible wear pattern, it would be OK to soak or wash gently. When you do wash, do it gently enough that it doesn't remove the existing creases. Always hang to dry... the dryer is not your friend.

Ok, first post! Well, I bought a pair of Super Rifle Cabin Raw Denim jeans from Overstock.com. They were a good price so I thought why not? And I love Italian things. These are my very first pair of raw denim jeans. And also, these are not selvege are they?

Ok, I've been wearing them for 3 months now and so far I haven't washed them. They are starting to fade up top by the pockets, rear pockets around the wallet, etc. However, in the past 2 weeks or so, they seem to have been stretching out a little more than usual. The waist, which used to fit me, is now bigger and they fall down a bit if I'm not wearing a belt. And, I don't think the crinkling effect on the back of the knees isn't quite so crisp as it used to be.

So, is it time to wash them? Or should I wait another 3 months? What do you guys think? Thanks.

imo, most ppl who tailored/tapered them end up selling them anyway__ for less money. in fact there's a couple right now on mynudies [Lemmy's & Opeth's] that have both been tapered.

if it is not for you, save yourself some grief and cut your losses. just sell & get the PBJ 011 or Blue In Green 013 [also made by PBJ].

the former, is the PBJ tapered version [1/2 inch taper from knee to hem] with a [literally] different twist__ LHT with grey weft, so they'll have a greycast effect when they fade. the latter, is BiG's answer to the "taper dillema"__ it's a slim version of the 005, using exact /same 005 denim with a bit lower rise, a full 1 inch taper [from knee to hem], & smaller topstich thread guage with finer/more stitch per inch.

The PBJ x BiG 013 collab cut resolved the infamous 005 flare issue.

Agreed with IIIrd (as always) on the taper - if the intended cut isn't for you, don't change it - it destroys the integrity and intention of the whole cut. I've done that twice and regretted it both times for changing the fit and the $$ loss I took.

riverrun: I think you need to take a look at my sig below...(shameless plug...) ;-)

thanks for the advice , ill just keep them the way they are since they arent that bad

I just started to read up on denim and bought some new cure's. But I wanted to try different jeans that had the same fit, maybe a little looser. any suggestions?

    hey guys

im in the market to get a good pair of jeans
i was looking at nudies -steven or APC a bit

any suggestions? Im really noob into this whole jean business.
I am 33 waist and like straight boot cuts with not too big of a leg opening.
I also like jeans with fades or coated - basically contemporay look

NS bleeds a lot when you wash them, more than the pairs of japanese denim i've had. So it depends a lot on how much contrast you want.

APC doesn't do pre-fade. I would personally look in to acne instead of nudie. I think they generally do better job a washes and so on. People might disagree, though. I would just go to a store and try them on till you find a pair you like. Much easier than making forum members try to guess what might look good on you.

    That would be NS.

I'm in between 3sixteen ST-100x and RRL Slim fit.

Price is similar for both, but I'm stuck what would be a better pair. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

I definitely want to keep them darker.... I will get a pair of 501 STFs as my lighter more washed out raw jeans Basically I want them to look like this: [IMG] Site says dude washed them once over 9 months... but there was no indication of how much he wore them, etc. My wear patterns are very similar to those though which is a good sign....

Damn, whoever said KMW's don't fade wasn't lying. I gave my 1980's their first wash after 5 or so soaks and 5 months of wear.. they look like week-old APC's at best.

Can someone recommend me a quality slim fitting gingham button down. I searched online and have seen some by J Crew, Rugby, and a nice short sleeve by J Lindeberg but haven't been able to try them on. Any input would be appreciated.

Asking in a thread not named "The Ultimate Jean Help / Question / Recommendation thread" might be a good start.

Does anyone actually make jeans with a 5.5"-6" leg opening on a 29 waist other than Levi's 510s?
