hey guys any suggestions of jeans very similar to slim jim? i love my slim jim but the hem opening is just a tad too big. im looking at those that cost 100-200. black or indigo does not really matter.

some that i can think now are apc ns, n&f weirdguy?

    thanks.

3Sixteen slims at SelfEdge. Skull (for a little more) at both BiG and SE.

How much extra leg length generally provides a desirable stack effect? Right now all my raws are 2" longer than my natural inseam and i just cuff them up once to a 2" cuff, but i'm considering stacking. Then again once these all eventually get a wash/soak they'll shrink maybe an inch and then there is no point to stacking, so... grr i dunno haha

^it's not just the lenght you need to consider. imo, anything over 7.75 leg opening [on medium waist sizes] does not not make for a good stacking.

    What kind of fit?

Something like an APC new Standards, I've had a black pair of those and wasn't wild about them. I like the somet blacks but that rise is scary.

What brands make the best black denim?
What do you mean by best? Do you like flat denim? Streaky denim? Slubby denim? No such thing as a blanket "best"

Is there anyone here who does not have stick thighs? I have pretty big legs and I can't do the skin tight nut hug jeans look. What kind of fit should I go for? I can't even really find pictures of anyone not wearing skin tight denims in the WAYWT thread.

    Word.

    Definitely. Jesus.

I'd suggest seriously considering soaking and taking care of your shrink before you hem, brother. Really, it makes no difference to the eventual break-in at all (and I know I'll be backed up on this blanket statement)

I find 2" extra gives me good stacking. Sometimes less than that if the leg opening is narrower - (as KitAkira mentioned) hence the jeans rest higher around the ankle. Suggest shrink, cuff to find length, then hem.

(keep in mind, it'll be a few weeks til the lower leg settles, so real stacking effect won't be apparent til then)

Consider 'straight', 'slim' straight' or 'repro' jeans.

Ask the guys at Self Edge or Blue in Green to help. There's tons of non-skinny stuff out there, and a whole band of companies who worship fuller vintage cuts.

Off the bat: Evisu Lot No. 1, KMW 1950, many Sugarcane and Samurai fits, Studio D'Artisan, Iron Heart. Man, have fun exploring that, there's sooo much good stuff in that area.

mlyngard, remind me again: hot soak or cold soak your jeans once they arrive? Sanforized denim. I've had older denim overhemmed, and I'd like to avoid the same problem again.
