I need the straight skinny on how the "new fit" 501s fit. I am getting two conflicting accounts:

    1. You buy them true to size, since a cold rinse will lead to negligible shrinkage.

    2. They shrink 1" in the waist, and 3" in the inseam.

I am planning on doing a cold rinse immediately to get some initial shrinking, then plan on just wearin' 'em with only occasional say once or twice a year washes. I doubt I can be bothered to starch.

Non-STF, you buy true to size. STF, you buy right around the numbers you give in #2. The shrinking properties of cotton haven't changed just because Levi's changed the 501 cut.

I purchased my first pair of raw denims the other day (APC NS size 27) and after reading the basic guide I had a few questions...

    1) They're kind of tight-fitting below the knees... in an effeminate kind of way... I know it is supposed to stretch out but I was wondering if it'll ever not look so... tight below the knees?

    2) Now the guide advises a hot soak, I sized down about 3 sizes (I normally wear 30s... but they slouch quite a bit) and I was wondering if I have to wear them while they soak...

    3) Another question about the hot soak, how hot are we talking? and how long should this soak be?

You only need to soak unsanforized jeans (because the fit on those change dramatically when they are washed the first time). With a jean like APC, the shrinking is minimal and really doesn't even need to be considered.

That said, I have learned from experience not to depend on stretching anywhere other than in the waist.

I second that. I've never owned a pair of jeans that stretched noticeably in length. In the waist, let's not even go there!

Can anyone please suggest me some slim fitting raw, indigo jeans that are ~$200 (incl. international shipping) other than Ande Whall's creations? I'd like some options to choose from.
Important - long (36" or maybe more) inseam. If I wasn't a tall bastard I'd be a happy camper tbh. :/

GKL - you can find 19cm Dior raws for 200-220 if you look hard enough.

What do people think of Dope & Drakkar? I am looking at their 1210 ($385) and 1100 ($330)

    http://www.ianshop.com/blog/

Also looking at KMW 1980 in raw or rinse ($275).

Thoughts on quality? I am looking for something like an updated classic look. Like 501's with a slightly lower rise and less baggy.

    Thanks.

I like Dope + Drakkar a lot. I have a pair of the 1100 which I never wore because they are too big, but the denim is great. You can get them for around 20.000 yens on Rakuten if I'm not mistaken, much cheaper than the prices you have. I think the 1210 cut would fit what you are looking for.

I picked up a pair of straight leg RRL selvedge jeans for very cheap, but am slightly underwhelmed by the fit, but they had nothing else. I would prefer to slim it up, especially in the thighs, but I know that sanforized denim doesn't shrink all that much. So my question is: do I do a long hot soak, jeans individual and inside out, or, say, 30 minutes with them in a hot bath? I'd like to minimize shrinking in length and indigo loss (hence turning them inside out).

    Thanks for any help!

What do you guys think about the fit of these jeans?

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

They are new-ish. I've worn them for no more than 2 weeks. But they are really tight [IMG]

I am debating if I should just sell them...

EDIT: these are thin finn dry stretch. I guess because they are stretchy jeans, they haven't really stretched out as much as I expected.

Don't sell em, that fit looks excellent.

thanks, but that would probably require quite a bit of looking around. And since MII Diors aren't known (from what I've read) for their quality for the price, Ande Whall's Grifters it is! I think. Maybe some other options? Too many nice (and cheap) jeans have 34" inseams. [IMG]

hmm, but that's usually without shipping. And in small sizes.
But I'll keep an eye out on the marketplace
