I am requesting suggestions on some slim fit straight leg jeans. Something that will look good with boots. I think it will look better than my Ande Whall Grifters and APC NS look with my Redwings. [IMG] I've been researching the LVC 1947s but the high waist and possible large hipflare is turning me off.
    ty for suggestions!

I just got a pair of 19cm MIJs that are 31w but they've quickly stretched to the point where I could easily take an inch off them and still be quite comfortable. So my question is this; are there certain methods to minimize future stretching in the waist or any simply fixes I might not know about? I know they'll be fine once I wash them and everything but that's a ways off. Thanks for your replies.

wear a belt to minimize stretching in the waist.

I don't think this really does much of anything... I always wear my jeans with a snug belt, and yet all of them have stretched out. Imo there really isn't anyway to stop it from happening. [IMG]

My immediate recommendations would be Ironheart 634S, Spurr Straight Leg, Kicking Mule Workshop 1980, or if you're willing to give a boot cut a shot, the 5ep low down boot.

What are your thoughts on Earnest Sewn? I just heard they opened a new store in Malibu and am thinking about making the 1.5 hour drive. Looking at their website they have a very nice range of colors but I'm not sure if their fits will work for me.

I prefer a straight leg jean jean with a little more room - an "easy fit" so to speak. I prefer a rise between 10-12" inches, hips 44-47" and thigh around 13-13.5". The color I am looking for is attached in this post, any other brand recommendations welcome.

okay, I'm a relatively big guy (for this place, anyway) - 6' 215, true waist is ~38".

I've been looking and looking at different jeans and want to finally make an order, but only one as I'm beginning to lose weight again. Any consensus as to which of these works best for those of us who aren't exactly cut out for skinny jeans?

FWIW, I'm very casual - oxfords/button-ups or some kind of henley/sweater, jeans, Doc 1460s most days.

    Iron Heart 634S
Flat Head F380 (SE only has the 3005 in a 40, which would wind up being too big, I believe)
    Samurai S5000VX
    5EP LDB - but I need at least a 34" inseam
    SDA SD-101
SC 1947 is another contender, but I'm not sure I want quite that much taper.
    Lee Gold 101B
LVC 1944 (or a similar cut from another maker)

KMW got eliminated because I do want these to lighten up and fade a bit. The 634s is hard to fade, apparently, but sounds comfortable to make up for it.

hm in terms of fading, i hear that 5ep's are pretty stubborn. I think the same would go for some of those other japanese brands as well. However, Flat head is supposed to be pretty quick fading but what it all comes down to is just how hard you wear them i guess...hope that helps a little bit in your search!

Your favorite cut! And the indigo only looks richer when you pour Coke Zero and Jack on it!

I just posted this in the Levis thread, but I figure I will repost it here as I may get more opinions. I'm going to order some tumbled rigid 514s. I currently have a pair in a different and now faded was that are 33/34s. What do you think of the length of the legs? I'm considering getting 36 length legs and possibly hemming them up a bit, but 36s only come in 32 and 34 waists (though as long as they stretch at all that wouldn't be much of a problem as my waist is probably a 32). So here are how the 33/34s fit. Would you get the longer length? [IMG] [IMG]

I would the repro japanese denim like the F380's and S5000VX would work pretty well. They both are 34+ inseams and have great quality in a straight leg kind of jean. Check BiG or Self Edge for them, and also keep a lookout on the B/S forums here and marketplace at superfuture. You could definitely could a good chunk of that list for sub 200 that way

I would. Length looks good alright as is, but an extra 2" wouldn't hurt. If you find out you don't like stacking (in dressier looks, for example), cuffing is always an option.

Get the 32 waist. Levis' denim stretch a ton.

i am thinking of getting levis 501 stf and my waist size is 30, some places tell me to get size 30 but others tell me to size up one or even two, what is your opinion?

I usually wear a 31 but got my 501STF in 32 and they are perfect. I would try +1.

can anyone provide a list of characteristics specific to each japanese denim company? or is that too much to ask

ie repro, skinny fit, made of sugarcane, heavy weight, etc etc

just trying to find what makes some denim different from others and i dont see a definitive thread anywhere here or on sufu
