There are no sales going on, so expect to pay ridiculous full prices for everything. The best items at retail have been completely picked over. Mobs of people crowd the stores and cause traffic congestion.

Don't get angry with Christmas. Get even.

Have you thought about taking up:

    shoplifting?
    dangerous driving?
    paying off debt?
    matinees?
    reading Henry Miller?
asking a girl out in your nice clothes you already have?

I've actually found some pretty good sales leading up to Xmas, although certainly it's a bit crowded going there, especially on cashmere items.

Ba, humbug. I hate Christmas too, especially shopping. Way too crowded (wanna talk traffic, I absolutely refuse to go to South Coast Plaza in the month of December). Too expensive (everything'll be reduced after the new year). Too annoying (Christmas music anyone?). Ba, humbug.

Has anyone else thought that Alexis is really the guy in the background of her avatar and his real name is Alex?

The thread should be properly renamed to "I Hate Shopping Christmas Time".

Personally I hate shopping all year round, and prefer to shop online.  I shop for my business (and that I like) so when it actually comes time to getting for myself I have no patience.

The Guy in The background is unquestionably Avnish Kalra...Alexis - Avnish...

Thus was born the Alexis Kalra conspiracy...

    Rennault,

SCP isn't bad this time of year if you park on the other side, by Crate and Barrel, etc... you just have to walk across the bridge, but almost that entire structure is open.

They had some decent deals now, I think they may improve after the new year though, I think it's a good time to buy basics, like BR, J Crew, and Express cashmere sweaters (right now about 50% off)

For most of my adult life, I have hated Christmas with a passion. (And I come from a Christian background.) As one friend remarked, "It's a re-paganized Christianized pagan holiday." I always admired the suggestion of one priest that Christians move the entire religious observance of the nativity to Epiphany (known in some traditions as "Old Christmas") and just abandon December 25 with its shopping, trees, tinsel, Santa Claus and general bad taste to the pagans.

My mother often suggested that gay men were the only adult males that truly liked Christmas. ("Oh, you must come and see our tree.") I have heard the expression, "As queer as Christmas," so maybe there was something to her opinion.

As it is, I just dislike the tacky decorations, the expense, the hassle, the sense of mutual obligation in gift giving, as well as the tawdry, sentimental pseudo-religiosity. Besides, I almost invariably seem to catch cold at Christmas time.

My most illustrious ancestor commanded the dragoons in Cromwell's New Model Army. The Roundheads were big on stamping out Christmas ("the superstitious festival of the nativity"), so maybe it's a hereditary thing with me.

Would it be better to go shopping at a place like Woodbury commons before or after christmas? The selection may be better before, but I would expect the sales to be better in January - assuming they have anything worth buying.

That's the issue with me, since I am a pretty common size for basics (M or L for sweaters/shirts, 34 for pants) I may have issues finding stuff in my size later, some places allow price match for 30 days, I just keep my receipts and get my discount later.

It's so much more pleasant for me to do Holiday shopping throughout the year. This way I just have to worry about getting the odd gift box, ect.
