I got a new job. Unlike my old job, the place is full with hot woman so I wanna look real sharp when I go to work on monday (1st day) .. So .. 2 weeks ago I got myself 2 new Canali's and in alteration.. Last week I ordered Stowie Grenson .. I was expect to get all of those .. by sunday .. but shoes are still stuck in UPS pickup storage due to address conflict .. and my suits are still waiting to be altered

here's a good off-the-rack solution you can pick up on saturday, guaranteed to have the womenfolk stuck to you like bugs on a flystrip:

FB: Is that you? You kind of look like a cross between David Schwimmer and Adam Sandler. Then again, we probably all do in those high school photos from the '70s.

Today I finally recieved Grenson, Stowie. Man .. what a nice looking shoes. Also the shoe is light I find .. Are all hand made shoes light?

Also, for those you who purchased these shoes, where can you tell that the shoe is handmade?

thanks.

Well, they aren't handmade in the true sense of the word, hand finished is the more correct term. But don't let that throw you, there are only four or so shoe brands on the US market that make a shoe by hand, and you aren't going to buy any of them for $150. Grenson's are great, as my burgeoning collection attests

Thank Harris. But Can you briefly explain how this shoes constructed? I cannot even see stiching of sole on the shoes which make me to believe the shoes are glued.

Long answer: http://www.styleforum.net/cgi-bin/ik...t=ST;f=1;t=701 Short answer - your shoes are Goodyear welted, with a channeled sole. Basically that means that the welt (ridged part on the top side of the sole) is lock-stitched to the upper leather to the insole (on a machine.) That seam is hidden inside the sole. A second series of stitches (also done on a machine) holds the welt to the sole, but those stitches are hidden in a channel, which is why the sole is smooth. On Grenson's there is handwork involved in the clicking (cutting out) of the upper, the polishing, and maybe the building of the heel.. As well as with other small steps - it's skilled work for sure.
