I found an infographic guide to shoes on another forum, but it looks kind of off.

I didn't create this, and if he asks me to take it down I will.

I'd like anyone to point anything they find wrong with it out, as well as why. Any examples are welcomed, too, and I'll pass it along. I think this infographic is a great idea, especially on the originating forum, which is populated mostly by 20-somethings who don't know much about style.

I argued against the placement of the chelsea boots. I mainly used the placement on the list of the split-toe boots so far down the line against it, because those have so many details that make them less formal in my opinion. His main point against chelseas (even wholecuts, presumably, as that was what I mentioned) was that they are very casual because they have elastic on the sides--even if the elastic gets covered by a pant leg. Because the other ones (including the split-toes) are all made out of the same material, according to him, they are more formal.

Now, that makes sense, to a degree--laces aren't often leather, for instance. But he seemed to mostly ignore how bulky and in how many pieces they are, but even a whole cut chelsea, according to him, belongs in the same place as it is.

Saddle isn't the same as spectator. Also he marked all oxfords as "balmoral", which they are not the same.

Judpur boots and chelsea boots are debatable if you take John Lobb London's definition into consideration. balmoral boots pictured isn't exactly balmoral boots, but just oxford boots.

wholecuts are not exactly more formal than cap toes and certainly medallion toe wholecuts are not.

search for member Glenjay's website, its much more informational.

I guess he found the infographic on another website, too, so I don't need to worry about taking it down now.

    Any other thoughts?

Also, what did you mean by this?
