I dislike cardigans with pockets. Am I wrong?

Case in point, this four in hand cardigan would be perfect imo were it not for the pockets. I don't know why, but it's a deal breaker.

I was in Harrods earlier today (first time ever, saw the Dodi/Diana Escalator memorial, their photos were stuck onto some faux egyptian cat. Nearly laughed, probably not the desired reaction). And I couldn't find a reasonably priced cardigan without pockets. And I was looking at merino wool.

The one pictured above is cashmere and the same as the merinos I saw in Harrods. IMO it has one too many buttons and the V should be deeper, but neither of those would stop me buying if it didn't have those damn pockets.

Am I insane? I'm so so tempted because it's affordable cash.

There is nothing to be "wrong" about, it's just your preference.

I'm with you. I don't see the point of them.

I like cardigans with pockets (which is not to say I have anything against their pocketless brethren), but I very strongly dislike using the pockets because it distorts the appearance -- and eventually the structure -- of the garment and makes it look sloppy IMHO.

Pockets are great. I often walk with my hands in a knuckle shape in the pockets. Very casual and stylish look.

Same here, I like having pockets on cardigans but I'd never use them.

Is there a "right" or "wrong" answer to this question. I think it is personal taste and preference.

I agree, either is fine IMO, but I prefer pockets and won't buy a cardigan without them although I'd never use them. [IMG]

Yup! I use my cardigan pockets regularly for knick knacks. The thinner the sweater, the less useful they become though. The biggest problem I have with the cardigan you posted is the shallow V.

The strange thing about cardigans is, they look best on guys who're under 21 or over 40.

This one, with its high neck is somewhere between grandpa.. and grandma. Avoid.

No your not the only one, I don't wear cardigans period since they have a tendancy to make the wearer appear older then he really is and adding pockets to them aren't helping any.

Normally I do not see their purpose. But I like this John Smedley with constrasting pockets, slim fitted.

I bought a different model in a classic fit (Daimler) which unfortunately is too large.
