A great deal of this depends also on your cost of living. My household income is in your second highest category, and I'm able to afford bespoke (Chan and Hamilton) relatively easily, even with a wife, two kids and a mortgage. Someone making my income and with a similar family situation in New York City would have a much more difficult time swinging bespoke.

I suppose one should note that there is a big difference between gross income and disposable/discretionary income. There are so many other factors that come into play--high mortgages, kids in college, that sort of thing. Also, household income is very different from personal income. I can assure you that not a penny of my wife's income is ever going toward supporting my Chan-aholism!
