Agreed!

I seem to have genes for cold weather; I can gladly wear shorts into 20F.

I've only ever truly been cold were the couple times when I went to campus in shorts and a t-shirt in the early afternoon, and then found that by the time I was walking a mile back at 11pm the temperature had dropped to 0 F. Those were painful, particularly to ears and fingers. The Harvard bridge, too, leaves you exposed to chilling winds.
But otherwise? I drip sweat at 80F, survive at 70, am happy as a clam at 50....

And it's a shame, too, because all the more elegant clothing is suited for cold weather. Shorts, a polo shirt, and sneakers just aren't as becoming as wool pants, boots, a longsleeve button-down shirt with a striking sweater over top. And yet I must wait for November for a sweater to even be bearable; I should move further north, into Canada.

A pet peeve, too-- most communal rooms are overheated. Even at MIT, where we should be tauting energy efficiency, and the often-cracked, single-paned, wooden-framed windows leak heat like they were built to be heat exchangers-- still, the classrooms are often stiflingly hot.
Most stores, office buildings, schools seem do this because they can't satisfy everyone, so they over-heat or over-air condition.
As a result, I wear a nice sweater on the 10-15min walk to class, only to have to gracelessly pull it off once I get there and dump it under my seat in a lump :-/

What scotch were you buying? This is a very important detail.

I went outside to take lunch at Carmine's at the Seaport today and there was a very nice chill breeze. I'm hoping for the best. A lady friend want to see the leaves in the Hudson Valley this weekend and I am demanding an accelerated fall season immediately!

The owner recommended a Glen Garioch 10 as a good budget scotch for a guy who drinks mostly lesser blends. It didn't seem right to buy him one of those for his birthday.
