I have a wedding coming up and it happens to be my mothers, so naturally, I feel the need to look as good as I can. Problem is, I have NO idea what to wear with my suit! It's a black wool suit with very, very subtle pinstripes. I would seriously appreciate advice as to what shirt/tie/pocket-square combination I should wear. Thanks so much.

No shirt. Tie on head. Pocket square used as hanky.

For a participant with so few posts (5) this is hardly appropriate.

Rgurning t the OP's concern

Your choice of shirt can vary form white to blue/pink or subtle stripes depending upon the formality envisaged. That cannot be determined from your post although second and more marriages are often more relaxed affairs..

The tie them follows, unless it it is grossly formal I would suggest something bright to tone with your shirt and a paisley pocket square.

If the thing is formal then whit shirt and a darker but not blackmore subdued tie with white or darker or paisley pocket square.

I think that light blue is always safe. White will be fine, too: The picture is not of a pinstripe but I think it still applies. Black jacket and shirt I'll wear a nice pocket square (white for starters?) to liven it up, being a wedding but I cannot be much help that that in this as I haven't still wore one (though I planned to do it to my next "event"). P.D. I'm late, you have good advice above.

I do apologize, as I was very vague. The reception is in the morning followed by the party after 6pm. My mother says that it's a relaxed wedding, although a suit is essential. Should I go for a perfectly creased white square? Or, a silk square with pattern?

Really, if it is a relaxed wedding, you don't need to worry so much.

1. Go to a store. No, not Walmart.
2. Pick a tie you like.
3. Pick a shirt you like that goes with the tie you like.
4. Find a patterned pocket square you like if you want to be on the dandier side. If you like the sleeker modern look, get a linen square and rock the TV fold.
5. Get a few combos of shirts and ties or shirts or ties that might possibly go with shirts or ties you already own.
6. Pick one out and return the rest.
7. Bridesmaids...
8. ???
9. Profit.

What color pinstripes? Is the suit black or charcoal (pics would help)? What time of day for the wedding and reception?
