Thank you for asking, I didn't even notice they are *completely* unfinished. No holes, no buttons. My coat from sportivo was 3 buttons completely finished. I've never had to deal with this before so I guess I'm gonna have to find a great tailor. If anyone has suggestions in the greater Boston area and/or a thread on SF that has suggestions I'd really appreciate it!

Edit: to clarify, it came with buttons and thread. I was wondering why there were so many lmao
The Asian stores usually leave the sleeves unfinished. Unfortunately seems like the discounts they provide will be negated by the tailoring job.

Anyone own Husbands footwear and can speak to the quality? Thinking of buying either the strapped loafers or zipped boots in box leather. I can afford it, but quite pricey for a non-shoe brand so I’ve waffled over it in the past. And they never go on sale
Check my posts in this thread - I have a lot of Husbands shoes/boots and made a comparison post between my Saint Laurent Wyatts and Husbands Sidezips. Even though Husbands boots don't go on sale they are ~2/3 the price of any Saint Laurent boot.

Isn’t there a France-wide sale coming up?

Is this just because they expect clients will need the sleeves shortened? I actually just looked at the jackets on Mathematics' website and noticed they are also unfinished like mine were.

On a 38/48 the sleeve is like 25in+ I would think whatever typical height takes that size is <5’9”, so have to chop sleeve by more than an inch (in my case I need sleeve at 23.5 and I have a longer preference I think strict stick to book I would be 22.9? And I’m 5’7”, probably just average for my generation and a bit short relative to current generation in Taiwan)

Edit average Korean is a bit higher so on that one I’m not sure

Yeah its just because of shorter average height. I think it is also why they switched from 4 button functioning surgeons cuffs being standard on all jackets to 3 button nonfunctioning surgeons cuffs - its way easier to alter the sleeve from the cuff if the buttonholes are unfinished.

It’s Gravati, right? They also make for Paul Stuart (I think).

Also, on a non-Husbands related note, I found out that Paola Scarfa makes Tom Ford’s made-to-measure shoes (the brand’s shoes, not the person’s), and Ferragamo’s limited edition footwear.
Gravati shut down sometime around COVID if I recall correctly. Last remaining bits of Gravati were being offloaded in a small own-brand shop last time I was in Milan.

Oh by the way more Husbands suit on both grailed and eBay, some are too long but more than one might fit me, so someone please take them… (staple color like navy too)

@merkwurdigliebe by the way you mentioned you don’t like post Hedi SL side zip, what’s the difference?
The leather panel on the shaft of the boot is a different, more western cut instead of just going up to the top of the shaft. They also have a large metal zipper pull which I could hear and feel jangling around when I tried them on.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
