It gets really cold up here, and warm headgear is essential. I've been wearing toques (beanies for you Yanks) for years and want something new. I'm thinking about a hunting-style cap. A wool cap with ear flaps that can be folded up. I'm looking for something pretty simple and not overly Elmer-Fuddish. I saw a nice cashmere one by Eugenia Kim, but it seemed overly delicate. It was already showing signs of wear in the shop. Just for an idea, here's an Engineered Garments one.

I want something a bit more modern though. I really liked the look of the Eugenia Kim one, but can't find a photo online.

Alternative hat suggestions are welcome. Also, I have a large head.

Discuss.

J.Crew has a nice wool one that shows up in their sale section every other day or so in the mornings. You might also be able to find it in store still, where I found mine for $12.

I like the second, wool, one, but it's a bit pricey.

That sounds interesting. I don't have access to any J.Crew stores, but I will keep looking at the website now and then. Price is definitely right.

That's pretty intense. I'm not sure I could pull off something that bold.

Some good recommendations here.

I would definitely pick up the Filson Mackinaw if it came in Charcoal, like the Double Mackinaw.
