from experience, most asians don't understand the use of sarcasm in humor.

This was one of the many sources of the demise of my last relationship. It's hard to be funny when every word you say is taken literally.

Every time I hear Garrison Keillor warbling on NPR, I think to myself, "God, white people aren't funny." (And then I invariably laugh when I remember the moment in The Wire when Bodie travels out of Baltimore for the first time and is stunned to hear Garrison Keillor on the radio.)
To be fair, NPR is a certain type of white folk.
Sensitive mainlanders (white people) have ruined Hawaii's make fun of every culture attitude, it's quite sad really. Yes, the humour was built upon ethnic stereotypes, but everyone was made fun of anyway so it was pretty balanced. The world will be a sadder place without Frank De Lima's jokes
I've heard this quite often. I always liked his song, Spam Musubi to the tune of YMCA. Didn't he have one about eating dogs too?

you forgot the ethnicity of a bar person. Their type of joke can be explained by a black gay in a wheelchair entering a bar and saying:" the next one is on me!"

Or a favourite pick up line in a gay gentlemans club, "may I push your stool in"?

racial jokes that originated from the US are rather violent in nature...so some Latinos might take offense. And to be fair, if you're a white guy, you should not be going around telling racial jokes. It's something white people have done for ages and most people don't like it...I for one cannot stand any jokes about blacks or Mexicans...just not funny to me.

I hear racism is pretty popular in South Africa, maybe you have tips to share?

Why do you pop into every thread about race to make broad stereotypical comments about how racist white Americans are (which, in itself is a racist view)? And then always follow it up with another broad generalization about Latinos or black people?

Coming from most people it would just be annoying, coming from a white South African it's :rotflmao:

I was at a co-worker's place for a party and her boisterous seven year old kid corraled us into conversation. I told him the "how long is a Chinese man" joke. I don't think he got it. I was surprised that others at the party had never heard it before.
