Hugo Boss, what is the problem

Hi,

I am new to this getting dressed well thing. i am not very familiar with Brand Names and definately not very sure about construction. I don't know the difference between fused and canvassed suits...

I was wondering why do people here dislike hugo boss? I am just starting out, and that has to be the most expensive brand I have ever worn, and I love their cuts, for their shirts. I recently boughy my first pair of italian shoes, and they were Hugo as well. They seem to be very well made, and I have received quite a few compliments on those. I want to buy Jam Sharp suits as well, for their cuts.

So here are the questions. Why do people disike Hugo? Also, are better constructed suits with the Hugo cut? I really cannot afford Prada, and I see no value paying extra just for the brand name...

For me, at least, their cuts seem modern and sleek, but their dimensions are strange. Take their BOSS Black suit dimensions, for example. I have an 86 cm (34 inch) hip, 84 cm (33 inch) waist, and 101.6 cm (40 inch) chest. By comparison, their 40R suit has a 105 cm hip, 90 cm waist, and 102 cm chest. In other words, their suits have odd, boxy dimensions. Not sleek and "v-shaped" at all. http://www.hugoboss-store.com/uk/?ci...ner=index#hb26 Also, I've heard that the quality of the fabrics isn't great and that they're poorly constructed.

I got a Hugo Boss cashmere sweater for Christmas, and its my 2nd favourite article of clothing. (First is a brown, weathered leather bomber jacket, handed down from my uncle who then went to Afghanistan)

Then you probably don't have what it takes to roll with us. (Just kidding. Welcome to the forum.)

I don't own any Boss so I'll let others answer your question, but I suspect there are many here who believe that Boss suits are overpriced for their level of quality.

Good, sleek, modern cuts, but poor-quality material for shirts. I have a pair of wool pants from them and like them so far.

The shoes at least are absolutely awful...

Do Hugo Boss have different lines? Such as Ralph Lauren (Polo / Blue Label) etc

I own a Hugo Boss suit. It fits well, but like others have said, the material and construction are not as nice when compared to some other suits that are favored here on SF.

What about RL Black Label. I have heard that they are expensive. I would love to get a V shaped shuit. Any brands that worth mentioning?

Look at the attached photo of the RL Black Label Suit. Pretty sharp, for a newbie at least.

there is nothing wrong with Boss. For the entry level suit I think Boss is just fine. I have worn everything from Boss to Brioni, and if you are on a budget Boss is the way to go.

I agree that their shoes are absolutely terrible for the most part.

I popped into the sample sale today (sucked hard) and I did find a pair that had great soles and the leather was pretty decent. Too bad the styling was really off with some weird faux cap toe created by some "bumps" underneath the leather ( I assume some kind of stitching).

Suits went from blah to ok. I wouldn't really go near it for the prices they were asking; $400 or so for a suit at the sample sale.

I once tried on a white spread collar french cuff Hugo Boss red label shirt. The material was so sheer it was ridiculous. I don't recall but I think it was some kind of cotton/poly blend too. Felt awful.

Their shoes are made in India or China and priced at $300+. Don't touch them.

Some of their shirts have a tag that says "Finest Italian Fabric". Yeah right!
