Yesterday at a local store I stumbled across a Hart Schaffner and Marx 3 piece suit in charcoal on clearance for $125.00.

I am of course trying to avoid the trap of "The suit isnt that great, but the deal was.."

The original price was around $900.00--

I am woefully ignorant of the HSM line, I know this suit was fused, and did not indicate "Gold trumpeter" --but did have the trumpeter on the label.

What is the general consensus on the quality the current HSM stuff?

-Thanks!

Look inside the waistband of the trousers.

HSM has a few lines, and they go something like this:
Travelor
1818
Blue
Gold Trumpeter

I know that Travelor series have an orange waistband, 1818 has green (I think), Blue has blue, and Gold Trumpeter has gold.

The Travelor series is fully fused and pretty cheap.
I don't recall about the rest but they are more than likely partially canvasses, and Gold Trumpeter is fully canvassed. I am pretty sure that HSM is known for their combination of fusing and canvasing fronts. So if you are positive that it is fused, possibly just the lapels are, they it could be anything but Gold Trumpeter.

Either way, for $125 even the Travelor series would be worth it as long is the fit is good.
