How's the fit of this altered shirt?

So since joining SF I've of course realized that none of my shirts fit and are in fact rather tentlike. I think I'm going to go the MTM route (seems hard to find anything at a reasonable price that will fit off the rack), but first I took one of my shirts to get altered to get an idea of what to go for. How does this look? The shirt is a Brooks Brothers (not very) slim fit that has been taken in in the body and sleeves, with both shortened as well.

To me, it feels a bit tight in the elbows when I flex my arms, and also generally a little tight in the shoulderblades/upper back region. In terms of looks, I think it looks like it fits nicely, but I'm pretty inexperienced so I'm not sure. Also--this may sound silly--but at this point in my "professional development" (early) I don't really want to look like I'm wearing perfectly tailored shirts, just shirts that fit pretty well. If that makes any sense at all. Anyway I'd love to get feedback on how it looks.

I think the yoke, the width of the shoulder, is still a little wide considering how trim the rest of the shirt is. This is why you have all that extra fabric where the sleeve meets the shirt. To narrow the yoke, which entails removing the sleeves, is a little expensive. This is something you can address on a MTM shirt.

Not necessarily, my tailor (actually, in the case of my shirts, a group of Eastern European women) just pin the shirt up the sides and arms and then trim accordingly. They only charge one price for shirt alterations so it can't be too complicated.

Thanks for the comments. I totally agree that the shoulders are too wide, that's basically the one major thing that wasn't altered I believe. (I wish my tailor charged one price for shirt alterations total but it's a la carte for each thing and it adds up!)

Would you guys agree that I could slightly widen the body and sleeves just to be a little conservative? (I'm thinking ahead to MTM measurements here btw).

The sleeves are a little too short, and the cuff on your left arm is too wide.

When you're getting a MTM shirt a professional will measure you.

Not if it's Jantzen!
Thanks for those observations.

i would say that in MTM it's probably to account for a thick watch (add 1.2"), but he said this was BB OTR, so that is a bit strange.

looks pretty good for an alteration.

I've been thinking of getting this done to some of my shirts... but I'm not sure how much it will cost up here in NYC.

I'm in NYC as well. I can't find the receipt but I think each separate thing (shorten sleeves, shorten length, slim sides, slim sleeves) was 10 or 12. I went to Cardelino.

Very nice, although I think the sleeves are too short. But, that's a personal taste kind of thing - I like to show 1/2 of cuff when wearing a suit and I don't think you'll get that with your sleeevs. Other than that, very nice!
