Howlin' by Morrison

What is everyone's opinion on the brand Howlin' by Morrison?
I think some of their knitwear is really beautiful, and i've been looking to get some for a while, but I haven't talked to anyone who's tried their clothes.

Are they good quality/well made? worth the money?

If you are going to be buying online, pay especially close attention to the measurements. I only tried on 2-3 different sweates but found them to fit super big compared to most brands people buy here (I tend to be a medium/large and I found even the smalls to be a bit big; although some of that may be intended style). With that said, the one I had been looking for was great once I saw it in person, sadly the size I thought I would be I was not and they did not have the actual size I needed.

Btw, I was looking for the Chip cardigan in grey...if anybody has a small they are looking to sell, PM me.

I picked up a fair isle v-neck a little while back from Frans Boone. Here's the measurements for a Large:

shoulder is approx. 17.25", 44cm
sleeve is 25.25", 64cm
chest is 22", 56cm
length is 26.75", 68cm

Ugh, this is depressing. I bought a medium sweater and had it shipped to my parents' house in the US and my dad told me it was gorgeous. I have a ton of stuff shipped there and he never says that, so I'm going to be pissed if it's too big.

I also just picked up a couple of beanies at Lazzari, which look awesome and aren't too expensive.

Hi there,
I've just ordered the Brian Knit by Howlin in large. I'm generally either a medium or a (more these days as I get older!) large depending on the company making the garment.

When it arrives, I'll repost here & let you know how sizing seems to me. Esquire did a piece on the company a while back saying that they tended to be quite slim fit, so I'm not anticipating a problem.

Well I found the fit to be fine (I got a large and tend to waiver between medium/large sizing - more large though).

I knew it would be erring on the side of slim-fit because that's the Howlin' style, but that's ok.

Quality & design is great though.

Ok, let's talk Howlin'. Tell me about sizing (when people say slim, do they mean SF slim [which is, you know, slim], or non-SF slim [which is more not-tent]? How consistent are fits across the various styles?). Tell me about how thick and warm they are (any of the winter knits a little on the lighter side?). Tell me how the Terry in Fire has such a beautiful rich colour that even though I look terrible in red I'm considering picking it up and framing it so I can just look. Just look and know it's beautiful.

Ok, the jumper fit is not tight in the body or shoulders, just a bit shorter in the body & arms - so in retrospect, I should have gone for an XL rather than L possibly. So the fit is quite odd really - more short than slimfit as they are sometimes advertised.

Warmth-wise, it's pure 100% wool (hence the price), so it's perfectly warm - after all let's face it, pure wool is what keeps sheep warm in winter (minus the fairisle patterns!)

PS: They're a cool brand if you like Twin Peaks - "The owls are not what they seem" is the clue..

Has anyone here found Howlin's products to be a bit scratchy? I bought the Neish and it seems to be so, not overly but a little.

They're made from Scottish/Irish wool. Wool from the British Isles has a tendency to be rougher and coarser (though durable and warm) than from elsewhere. Different items from Morrison use different wools though and not all are so coarse - best to try a few out if their coarser wools don't work for you.

anyone got any feedback on their scarves? thinking of buying a scarf from them but scared the wool will be scratchy
