How would you style this medium length hairstyle?

Anyone have any ideas on how would one style the hairstyle in the pic below? My thought was that it was straightened first to get the bangs and then applied some wax/pomade to give that messy look? Any input/suggestions would be highly appreciated since I'm working on a new look.

He had lighter highlights put in at the salon. That's an integral part of the whole 'look' as it won't appear as choppy and layered if it was all one color. Seriously. The cut and the highlights should set you back around $120 at most salons. It's a stylized in-photo studio picture, so it's possible it's merely dampened with water and made to reflect with a silicone shine spray applied. Jonathan Antin Dirt will probably give you a similar hold/texture http://www.sephora.com/browse/produc...egoryId=C12030 Then finish it off with a silicone shine spray. Take the pic into the salon with you when you get your hair cut.

is it even possible to have hair like that? yes, you can have someone style it like that. Then you have to walk outside. There will be wind there. It will blow. All gunk will mold it somewhere else. Then you will touch it. Stuck elsewhere. Then you will go home, sleep, it will be a mess in the morning. Then you will shower, wash it. Then you will spend an hour in front of the mirror attempting to replicate what the stylist did. Then you will fail, stick in a bunch of wax and push it all back.
